Visible repair - I think repair is a word I haven’t realised is pretty central to my practice/ this project - in this case with my surfboard it’s repair to restore functionality - I am drawn to repair that is visible - it shows that something once had a shape or form, and that in time it was chipped, cracked or aged in some way that changed its original shape. And with the incomplete as a guide - another material can fill that space, emphasising that lost part, but bringing a different version, combining past and present, projecting a future in the persistence and added strength that will preserve it, but not in a perfect ‘museum like way’ but so it can continue to be in everyday life in some way. These sentiments remind me of Hootan’s use of plaster. GC
