Absent space, but not

Those words I wrote down were part of a response to funnel vision, a work from 2018 - and it’s like at first glance the space between the cone and the wall is absent - but then that’s also where the focus is, so it can’t be completely absent - was it written off as absent due to the level of attention paid? Or is it what absent looks like? Because it’s immaterial do we presume absence, before even considering otherwise? GC
